The training rotation

The normal training period for accident and emergency medicine is 5 years although depending on experience gained prior to taking up your designated training post this period may be shortened. During this 5 years you will rotate between hospitals spending usually one year in one hospital at a time, (although the rotation through the paediatric A&E and Belfast City A&E are 6 months in length

There are 8 hospitals at present involved in the specialist registrar training program and these provide a wide variety of opportunities in patient management in different environments. The hospitals include a specialised childrens hospital, "district general hospital" experience and tertiary regional referral centres

The training programme for the SpRs in training will include rotation between several of the hospitals although usually not all. For more information on the specific hospitals see the links below
